Metro Logistics at the Black and Caspian Freight Forum 2025

Baku, September 9–11, 2025 — The 4th International Black and Caspian Freight Forum, themed “Corridors, Cargo, Infrastructure”, brought together over 250 representatives of transport and logistics companies from 25 countries. Among the participants were ACEX Alliance members: Metro Logistic (Georgia) and ORIENT LOGISTICS, ACEX Uzbekistan, who showcased their projects within the framework of the Middle Corridor development.

The Middle Corridor: A Logistics Artery of the Future

The forum’s spotlight was on the Middle Corridor — the vital transport route connecting China and Europe through Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan. This corridor is fast emerging as a strategic alternative to traditional routes exposed to geopolitical risks.

Metro Logistic, Georgia’s first container operator, unveiled an ambitious project: the construction of a new 20,000 sq. m. terminal complex — the region’s first fully digital terminal.

A Next-Generation Digital Terminal

According to Rostomi Lezhava, CEO of Metro Logistic and ACEX Alliance member, the terminal’s efficiency rate is projected to reach nearly 90%, compared to the current industry average of 50–60%.

“We are implementing the most advanced technologies to take the terminal’s operations to a fundamentally new level. The development of the Middle Corridor is crucial for Georgia’s economy, especially in the context of building the Anaklia port. Once the corridor is fully operational, the port will be guaranteed a steady flow of cargo,”

— emphasized Rostomi Lezhava.

Looking Ahead

Metro Logistic also highlighted the strategic importance of the Kars–Akhalkalaki railway line, which has already proven its efficiency in cargo transportation. Together, these projects reinforce the role of Georgia — and the wider region — as a critical link in Eurasian logistics.
